Neurosurgery department of Tangshan Gongren hospital is the key department of Tanshan health system, which is the first in Hebei province both in its technology and patterns. Intracranial tumors, cerebrovascular disease,congenital malformation of brain, spinal cord tumors, myelosyringosis, cervical intervertebral disc extrusion, brain injury, and intracerebral hematom can be treated by the department ,with the leading operational level and curative rates, some of which have a leading position domestically.

The department has advanced and modernized monitoring ward, equipped with France-made monitoring facilities and Germany Simens respiratory, electric ice cap and ice blanket,so the patients can obtain the safe treatment after brain operation and severe brain injury and the cure rate of the severe brain injury has been greatly improved.

In 1994 neurosurgery department first conducted intracranial tumors resection under microscopy in Tangshan, so that brain tumors are fully resected at the same time the function of brain tissue is kept to a maximum.

Since 1994 trans sphenoid brain pituitary tumor under microscopy was conducted first in our department, the resection intracranial tumors without the opening of cranium became available. Up to now, there are 50 cases receiving successful procedure. In recent years the department has carried out vascular malformation resection under microscopy and brain aneurysm clip, which cured the patients, as the only unit the can conduct aneurysm clipping of base of skull in our city. As for intervertebral disc extrusion, there were 10 cases with intervertebral disc extrusion cured by circulating intervertebral disc resection by anterior cervical approach,first carried out in the department,boring advantages of less injury and better results.

In 1998 computer-assisted Stereotactic surgery of hypothalamus, as a new technology in the world, was first carried out in the department in Hebei province, which can perform precise localization and nonpainful operation. Especially the stereotactic radiofrequency treatment of Parkinson syndrome relieved overall tremor and muscle rigidity of the patients with 10 years sufferings within 20 minutes, so many patients recovered and then come back to normal work and live.

For many years the department accumulated rich experiences in rescuing and treating life-threatening severe brain injury caused by traffic accident, trauma and falling.
