Nephrology department is the well equipped diagnosis and treatment center of kidney diseases, with well-trained and educated physicians, where the diagnosis and treatment of many difficult diseases can be accomplished. In recent three years, the department has been quickly developed, equipped with 33 beds, advanced and reliable France-made monitor for monitoring blood pressure, heart rate and blood oxygen saturation, micropump for strictly controlling speed of transfuse and drug dosage, and central oxygen-supplying system for assisting breath with respirator. Dialysis room possesses 8 sets of dialyzer and air-conditioner as well as TV sets.

The department has 40 working staff, including 13 physicians, of whom 1 got chief physician rank, 3 vice chief physician rank and 6 attending physician rank. Of the staff, 1 got the doctor degree from Germany, 1 got master degree and 3 are studying for master degree.

The director,Doc. Guo Zhijun, coming back from Germany,tutor of undergraduate of Hebei Medical University, and standing committee member of Tangshan Internal Medicine branch of Chinese Medical Society,has been working in internal medicine for 20 years.She is proficient in the clinical and pathological diagnosis of various kidney diseases and is good at the therapy of combined Chinese traditional medicine and western medicine. She has special interest in dialysis and nondialysis for treating uremia.She participated in the national natural science fundation research of blood coagulation and fibrinolysis of renal glomerular disease, working on the diabetic nephrology,the effect of Glycated end-products, and cardiovascular complications following kidney transplantation and blood purification. At present the study focuses on continuous kidney replacement therapy, clinical and experimental study on diabetic nephrology and mechanism of kidney failure.

Glomerulonephritis, nephritic syndrome, interstitial nephritis, Systemic lupus erythematosus nephritis, small svasculitis, hypertensive nephrosis,diabetic nephrosis, urinary infection, acute and chronic kidney failure, hematuria, proteinuria, polyuria, oliguresis, anuria and swollen.

Technological peculiarities

Nephrology pathology is the golden index for diagnosing and treating nephrosis.The department first carried out renal needle biopsy in Tangshan,which was conducted on 200 cases. In order to improve our diagnosis and treatment level, the department cooperated with Union hospital and Peking Medical University hospital, inviting well-known experts to giving lecture and instruction.

The department have individualized and regularized therapy protocol of traditional Chinese medicine combined with western medicine for primary nephrosis, by which the disease condition of the refractory disease is well controlled.

The diagnosis and treatment of secondary nephrosis, including lupus nephritis, small vasculitic nephritis, hepatitis virus-related nephitis,and multiple myeloma nephrosis by the help of advanced diagnosis methods, has a leading position in Tangshan and even within Hebei province.

Interventional therapy can be performed for treating renal cyst diseases.

The development and progression of kidney failure can be avoided or prolonged by interventional therapy and renal arteriography of stenosis of renal artery, renal vascular hypertension and ischemic nephrosis.Renal arteriography was conducted in 19 cases, renal stent implantation in 3 cases and selective renal artery branch embolization of hemorrhagic shock caused by kidney rupture hemorrhage in 2 cases.

The dialysis room performs the most blood purification items in Tangshan. Blood dialysis, online hemofiltration and hemofiltration dialysis are applied to chronic kidney failure by highly effective synthesis dialyzer.

Bedside continuous kidney replacement therapy is fist carried out in Hebei province for rescuing kidney failure complicated with cardiocerebral disorders and multiple organ failure. There are 200 cases effectively rescued.

Hemoperfusion, hemoperfusion plus dialysis, and single filtratrion and double filtration plasma exchange are performed for rescuing intoxication, liver function failure, immune diseases and refractory hyperlipemia, which have a leading position in Tangshan.
